20/20 Vision Romania

Reach, reconcile, raise, release
20/20 Vision Romania: The Eastern European Gate

Mihai and Kiersten met in Romania while Kiersten was serving as a missionary with a non-denominational Christian organization (Food for the Hungry International). As an RN she worked in orphanages and public secondary schools teaching health, and she also led the youth group in a local church. This was where she first met Mihai, who had grown up in a small village in Romania. As the second of 5 children born into a typically poor family, Mihai’s early years were filled with much responsibility and work on the small family farm.

Kiersten grew up in Tacoma, Washington, and she received a call to missions as a young girl. After finishing her degree at Pacific Lutheran University she was finally able to see this dream fulfilled when she moved to Romania in 1996. She spent much time studying the Romanian language and became fluent.

Mihai and Kiersten got married in 1999 and moved back to the USA. When they left Romania they both had the same desire: to come back and serve God in Romania.

From 2001 to 2003 they led several short-term mission trips to Romania with a team from Life Center church in Tacoma, which was the church Kiersten had grown up in. This team helped to build a beautiful 3-story building that serves as a training facility and center of ministry to orphans and gypsies.

Through a series of events God led them to the International Church of Las Vegas, in Las Vegas, Nevada. There was an instant match of “DNA” as they fully embraced the 20/20 Vision and they were fully embraced as members of the ICLV family.

Mihai and Kiersten have two young children, David and Sarah, who are both a joy and encouragement to their parents every day.

The Assignment

The next phase of mission God has called them to is to go back to Romania as full-time missionaries. They will return to a city called Pitesti, in south-central Romania, in a region called Muntenia (Land of Mountains). The population of Pitesti is about 300,000 people, and it is an important industrial and educational center.

Ministry Goals:

1. Establish a church in Pitesti, a city about 2 hours west of the capitol.
2. The vision of the church will include planting a church in every village and community surrounding the city, of which there are about 200 with no Christian witness.
3. Start a School of Ministry which will raise up leaders and church planters.
4. Inner-city Ministry. Pitesti has a lot of kids who live on the streets.
5. Develop a network of churches and ministries in Romania with the same vision: to see Romania saved and transformed. This will provide covering, accountability, unity, and will empower the church in Romania. There are a few ministries with a real Kingdom mentality in Romania and we want to develop relationships with them.

The Challenge

A mission like this requires a team. While we may be the most visible members of this team, we are by no means the most important. First of all, Christ is our Head and all glory is due Him only. We are asking you to consider joining our team and to consider one of several ways to support this important work:

• A commitment to pray for the Pitesti Church Planting Project.
• A one-time financial gift.
• A monthly financial gift.
• Any other from of support that you can develop on your own.

Together we can work to see the Kingdom of God advanced in Romania and an entire country see a true Reformation! We are excited to embark on this adventure together.
